In the Tajik language kulala means pot, and in the village of Kuala live highly expert potters. Clay is brought down from the hills to be pulverized, sifted, cleaned, and prepared for women to make into pots, bowls and water jugs. these are used for cooking, and for storing milk and water. The village produces pottery to trade or sell thought the mountains of northern Afghanistan.
