The long-haired domesticated yak herds are valuable property of the Tajik. The herds stay high in the mountains where it is cool. but are brought down to the village. They are sheared by the men with scissors. Then the wool is pounded by men with sticks. After this the Tajik villagers spin the hair into yarn, and store the yarn.
