Summary:

Shows a nation varied in cultures, religions and customs, in climate, dress, diet, history and language. It is a country where Hindus make regular pilgrimages to Banares, where the extended family continues to be an important aspect of life, especially in the villages, and where voter turnout is the largest of any democracy. The 7th largest industrial power in the world, India now manufactures 40,000 tractors annually. In the past these had to be imported.
