Indian Worker: From Village to City, An

Alternative Title: N/A

Series Title: N/A

Summary:

India - rural as its reputation may be - is the eighth largest industrial power in the world. Shripal works at a cloth mill on the outskirts of New Delhi, but his wife and two small children have remained in his village. Shripal's life in both city and village is documented in this film. His city friends are from the same area of North India and they work and live together. Whenever they can, they see one of India's popular feature films. Shripal can only rarely make the 24 hour train trip to visit his family. When he does, he still enjoys village life, and it would be easy for him to adjust to it again. The question of whether he is a village man or city man remains unanswered (1984 IFF catalog).
