This film describes a day in an American town in Ohio. It begins at dawn with the first stirring of life. A newsboy delivers his papers, the postman the mail, and the milkman the milk. The street cleaners are on the job, the stores open, and men go off to work. It is election day and a new mayor is being elected. We see men at work in the local factory, the women shopping, the children in school. Voting goes on all day. At the end of the workday we see families in their homes. Men work in their gardens, and families gather on the front porches. Polls close at six o’clock. The film is imaginative and well photographed. (1950 NYU Film Library catalog)
