A long hour's walk is the length of time it takes for first and second graders to walk to school in parts of rural Colombia. The viewer takes another walk through the barrios on the outskirts of Bogotá and learns how eighty-five percent of the population of Colombia lives. Peasants earn twenty-four cents a day, and must work three weeks simply to earn money to buy a shovel. Winner of the Chris Award. (IFF catalog)
