Village Life

Series Title: Pacific Island Life

Summary:

The village of Busuria merges into the coconut groves lining the lagoon. Men meeting are not reading but smoking the newspaper! A coconut palm is a natural place for a swing, and the lagoon a cool playground for the children. A canoe is carved out of a whole tree that has been drifting all the way from South America. Women and men, all in their own ways, are helping to build a new home. The structure of the houses consist of wood, the roofs of thatched pandanus leaves, and the walls of braided mats of coconut leaves allowing the air to circulate. (IFF catalog)
