Masterpieces of Chinese Art: At the National Palace Museum

Summary:

From a vast collection of over 240,000 pieces of art, some 50 have been chosen for exhibition in the film: ancient bronzes from the Shang Dynasty, circa 1766-1122 B.C., jade artifacts spanning 3,000 years of artistic development, porcelain wares including Ju ware, the greatest of all Sung porcelains. Carved lacquer and calligraphy are also covered. A simple narration gives the viewer background information, and a score of authentic ancient Chinese music heightens the mood of the film.
