Blowgun

Alternative Title: N/A

Series Title: Indians of the Orinoco

Summary:

In a single day a Makiritare craftsman fashions a blowgun with precision fittings that will last for years. He has collected special reeds for the inner barrel, and fits the straightest into the carefully hollowed-out interior of a larger protective pipe-reed. Darts treated with curare poison are marked in red. The unopposed darts are for tiny birds and animals, while the poisoned ones kill larger animals. The hunter eventually kills several large birds called curassows.
